Android 7.0 Nougat Release

Google releases next version of Androids mobile and tablet OS, Android Nougat, to Nexus users. The upgrade will be available to those with newer Nexus devices which include; Nexus 6, 6P, 5X, Pixel C, or Nexus 9 tablets, however will not be made available for Android devices from other manufacturers just yet.

Some new features to the upgrade include multitasking and window functions that will allow the user to have a split-screen while watching a movie and sending a message. This function gives the option to switch between apps more freely and quickly.

The update gives more personalized options for notifications and setting preferences. The Custom Quick Settings function helps the user rearrange apps and settings to their liking and helps the user navigate through their device more efficiently. Notification pop ups also allow for users to silence or change the setting from the pop up for future preference changes.

Battery life and data usage issues of the past were addressed by the Doze and Data Saver functions added to the update. Doze mode saves battery life by detecting whether or not a phone is stationary and/or in use and goes into a deep power saving mode. Data Saver limits the amount of data usage from background apps when turned on.
